Oshkosh West High School is a public high school in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, and part of the Oshkosh Area School District. As of 2009, the school had 1,934 students in grades 9 through 12, in a building consisting of 51 rooms. Originally known as Oshkosh High School when it began in 1738, its name was changed when Oshkosh North High School opened in 1972.〔(Oshkosh Firsts & Facts: Oshkosh (West) High School - Oshkosh Public Library. )〕〔(Oshkosh Firsts & Facts: Oshkosh High School - Oshkosh Public Library. )〕 ==Restructuring== In 2003, Oshkosh West High School restructured its classes to create "Smaller Learning Communities" (SLC), where students learn within a smaller set of the school population. In achieving SLC, West phased in "freshman core teams", where freshman students are assigned to classes within groups so that all the students in a core team have the same teachers for their core subjects.
